The Senior Exhibition is an opportunity…
- to learn and to teach;
- to explore a topic of intellectual inquiry;
- to pursue a passion;
- to present your new understanding to a public audience of teachers, schoolmates, family and friends.
The
Senior Exhibition program is a culminating academic experience targeted
for the final year of study at The Thacher School. Projects are of
substantial magnitude and the April presentation an articulate
expression of organized thought about the topic’s issues and arguments.
Senior Exhibitions begin with a question that soon evolves into a
thesis or a clear statement of purpose. The senior then builds an
argument deciding the truth of his or her thesis by reflecting upon and
explaining what he or she has studied. Senior Exhibitions often go
beyond this to offer reasoned criticism and alternatives.
Each
senior works one-on-one with an advisor and an "exhibition coach,"
getting advice or guidance when necessary, but more importantly,
sharing the unique pleasure of sustained intellectual inquiry.
