In English class we discuss James Joyce’s Dubliners. It is really helpful to hear my teacher’s ideas about the symbolism in the short stories; I hadn’t picked up all of it in my own reading last night.

Free period; I use it to go the library and do tomorrow’s English reading. The big leather chairs near the window give me the perfect spot to settle in and relax.

At Assembly I hear about the lip-sync contest on Saturday. I have to remember to sign up and do an act with my friends.

I’m off to a meeting with the college office about the upcoming SATs. The teachers are really helpful with preparation tips for the test, and the college counselors talk us through the process of registering for it.

Time for lunch! Today is my favorite—Fiesta Bar. I spend time with friends and then use the last few minutes to review some vocab for my French quiz.

After the quiz, our French instructor spends the rest of the period conversing with us so we can all work on our verbal skills. In class we cover current world events as well as recent happenings at Thacher—all en Français!

I head to my favorite class of the day, AP Environmental Science. We get to do some great hands-on labs, like building our own ecosystem and testing the water quality in local streams. Next week we’re going on a field trip to Matilija Creek.

In Chorus class we do warm-up exercises, then work on pieces for our performance in a choral festival coming up next month.

Down to the lower field to soccer practice. We’ve got a big game coming upon Saturday against Villanova, so today we do a lot of scrimmaging and shooting to prep for the game. I stay after practice to work on my corner kicks.

I’m back in my room after Formal Dinner to change into more comfortable study clothes. Tonight I sat at my advisor’s table. We talked about the school play last weekend. It was amazing to see some people I didn’t even know were actors on stage!

It’s time for me to get a head start on my work since I have an English paper due at the end of the week and a math test tomorrow. I claim my favorite study spot in the library, one of the carrels tucked away in the Fiction Room.

Study break! I head to The Commons for snacks and some socializing.

Right after check-in, I go to my prefect’s room for a munch-out (pizza with lots of pepperoni) with our dorm section. It’s a great treat at the end of the day.
