Thacher hosts another IEA Show
With Coach Elizabeth Reynolds Mahoney CdeP 1988 and Thacher Equestrian Team Captain Hailey Everett '12 as chief orchestrators, team members Chris Yih '12, Lucy Meyers '13, Melani Shahin '14, Minah Choi '14, Arianna Finger '15, Maddie Parrish '15, and Sydney Wilder '15 worked from long before dawn to well beyond dusk to host an Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) show on Saturday, February 11. Although they competed, the squad also prepped horses from forelock to tail, stalled them after each ride, then re-readied them for each successive round. Barn chores at the end of the day? Those, too. Also putting in long but satisfying hours were stalwarts Laura Everett (P '12, '14) and veteran IEA show announcer Bert Mahoney.

Thacher placed 4th out of eight teams competing. In their respective divisions and classes, Hailey won a 2nd place, Chris a 4th and the Sportsmanship Award, Lucy and Melani each a 5th, Minah a 2nd and a 3rd, and Arianna a 3rd.

As for the equine roster of Reggie and Riley, Laddie and Robbie, Merlin, Saylor, Shaq, Noah and Newbury, Gemini, Jim, Merlin, and good old 85? They took Monday off.
