The Wolf of Wallstreet, Ozark, The Big Short, Goldfinger, American Hustle... why is society so interested in white-collar crime when depicted in film but immediately put to sleep when hearing about real-life white-collar crime schemes? My research addresses the prominence of white-collar crime today, despite the lack of attention it gets from society and the media. Additionally, I look at why these cases aren't reaching the news and why the FBI's prosecution rate for white-collar crime is staggeringly low.
