The Politics Behind CTE: How does it affect athletes in high-contact sports?

Due to the popularity of high-contact sports like football and boxing and the billions of dollars they bring in, the health and safety of athletes have not been prioritized. Chronic Trauma Encephalopathy (CTE) is a degenerative brain condition that arises after one has sustained repeated hits to the head/concussions over an extended period of time. Until recently, CTE has been overlooked and downplayed, however as more evidence comes to light and more high-profile cases of CTE occur, its drastic effects and prevalence can no longer go unnoticed.
