I knew I wanted to work at Thacher when
I drove through an ice storm in Massachusetts in order to fly to LAX for my Thacher interview. The very next day, I attended an assembly at the Centennial Amphitheater on an 80 degree day in February.
Favorite Thacher teaching moment
Reading the poems that my students wrote in Latin (with impeccable dactylic hexameter).
Since you asked me to brag, here’s the professional accomplishment I'm most proud of
My proudest professional moment came during my TOAD Talk in 2014. My parents were visiting at the time and were present in the audience, and much to their surprise, the theme of my talk was how much I loved and appreciated them, and the importance of calling home and appreciating parents. I am very proud of having used that community moment to honor the two most important influences in my life.
Favorite job perk
Homemade salsa and a smoothie bar every weekend brunch.
Hardly anybody knows that
I always wanted to teach math.
Favorite place at Thacher
The outdoor theater.
Favorite place on earth
The book, movie, work of art, or piece of music I cannot imagine life without
The Iliad and The Odyssey
What I wanted to be when I grew up (when I was 10)
