I knew I wanted to work at Thacher when
I wandered into the barn area when my husband, Pete Fagan, was interviewing for a math teacher position. I have always been passionate about horses and seeing the barn facilities and all those horses got me really excited.
Favorite Thacher teaching moment
There have been many when it comes to teaching riding. I would say that when I see a student suddenly put all the pieces together and be able to cue the horse in the proper way, the horse just following the feel of the student, it’s pretty cool.
Since you asked me to brag, here are the professional accomplishments I'm most proud of
In my many management roles prior to Thacher, I was most proud of creating a work environment that was fun and fostered teamwork and collaboration while helping people achieve their goals.
When not in the classroom I can be found
Making something. I love working with my hands using a variety of mediums—fabric, paper, cement—nothing is off limits!
Favorite job perk
Having a horse to ride any time I want.
Favorite place at Thacher
On a trail with my horse overlooking the Ojai Valley.
Favorite place in my imagination
Any place that is near water!
Favorite place on earth
Birch Island in Lake Winnipesaukee, Gilford, New Hampshire.
Hardly anybody knows that
For the past 25 years, I have been doing a cartwheel on my birthday. I’ll be doing one again this year!
What I wanted to be when I grew up (when I was 10)
What I want to be when I grow up (now)
Ah, that’s so hard to say! We are constantly growing and learning. I guess I am doing just what I should be doing at this moment in time. I always want to be content, happy, challenged, and connected to family and friends.
