• Since you asked me to brag, here are the professional accomplishments I’m most proud of

  The diversity, equity, and inclusion work I did at my last school. I was part of a team that spearheaded the DEI program, which included hiring the school’s first diversity, equity, and inclusion director and increasing participation in workshops and conferences like the National Association of Independent Schools’ People of Color Conference and Student Diversity Leadership Conference. 

• Favorite places on earth

  Valle de Cocora near Salento, Colombia; Mammoth Lakes, California; Yellowstone National Park; the Colorado High Country – Sawatch Range and Independence Pass; any mountain I can hike.

• Favorite place in my imagination

  Paradise Falls in the movie Up and the Cliffs of Insanity from The Princess Bride. Basically, massive cliffs on the edge of an ocean.

• Favorite place at Thacher

  I still have a lot to explore but right now I’d say the trails above campus and the swing set overlooking the soccer field and the Ojai Valley.

• The book, movie, work of art, or piece of music I cannot imagine life without

  The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah; Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart; The Princess Bride; The Departed.

• Hardly anybody knows that

  I eat sweetened condensed milk straight out of the can.

• What I wanted to be when I grew up (when I was 10)

  A large animal vet and a photographer for National Geographic.

  The founder of an animal sanctuary and an amazing singer.
