Students are issuing challenges to keep everyone active.
In general, the Thacher community is a pretty fit group—just walking from the dining hall to The Hills dorm can add up to a mini-cardio workout if you walk briskly. Add to that the afternoon team practices, dance rehearsals, rock climbing workouts, and gymkhana race that keep our students and faculty physically active day in and day out, and you get a sense of the calorie burning that might not be happening for those sheltering in place. So, students and faculty have been looking for ways to stay fit while staying at home. Athletic Director Tyler Popa has shared a wealth of free online resources with the community, from live online yoga classes to upper body strength training. For mental support he included links to mindfulness classes and blogs, and Ms. McMahon continues to share details about mental health resources with students weekly—all counselors are now offering online sessions in various time zones.
