Director of library services and educational technology and advisor to five awesome freshman girls in the Casa Dorm.
What my students call me
I knew I wanted to work at Thacher when
I read the job description and looked at the website.
I spoke to Alice Meyer and Blossom Pidduck over the phone early in the process; it felt like I was talking to a good friend.
I stood on the Pergola on the December morning of my interview and watched students walk to the pool for an early morning swim. What teenager voluntarily gets up early to do that? Apparently Thacher students. It was impressive.
Favorite Thacher teaching moment
After introducing a sophomore class to an awesome LibGuide for their research project and talking about how cool databases are, Bonnie LaForge and I got a thumbs up and a smattering of applause. It is rare to get applause for a talk about databases. Trust me.
When not in the library I can be found
Perusing thrift stores.
Favorite job perk
Walking to the library in the morning and pausing to take in the view of the sun on the mountains. It’s a different picture every morning. I also work with two wonderfully talented, smart, and funny women, Ms. LaForge and Ms. St. George. They make coming to “work” a real joy.
Hardly anybody knows that
I’m really, really funny.
Favorite place at Thacher
The view from the Outdoor Chapel is pretty spectacular.
Favorite places on earth
Florence, Italy; Kyoto, Japan; Kowloon, Hong Kong, China; the camp where we stayed on the second night of faculty orientation; Santa Fe; Canyon de Chelly, Arizona...everyplace I’m lucky enough to visit is a favorite.
