Hypermasculinity in the Latinx Culture: Machismo and Why it Affects Todos

In an effort to understand why hypermasculinity is so pervasive and prevalent in the Latinx culture, I focus on what machismo looks like historical, social factors that have shaped its roots, how it affects men, women, and LGTQ+ people within the Latinx community, and how the Spanish language plays a role as well. Ultimately, I hope this reflection on the Latinx culture can be used for people to reflect upon their own backgrounds and see this issue is not unique to one culture.
