The Ojai Area

List of 3 items.

  • The Ojai Valley

The Ojai Valley probably looks familiar if you’ve ever seen a vintage California citrus crate label. Chaparral-covered mountains, blue skies, and acres of orange groves make up our own piece of Shangri-La. Temperate winters, warm spring and fall months, and hot summers make it possible to hike, camp, ride, and explore our backyard trails year round. At sunset you’ll see Ojai’s arresting “Pink Moment” as the valley sky and the Topatopa bluffs are illuminated by rose light. The beach is just a few miles away, and Santa Barbara (45 minutes from Thacher) and Los Angeles (85 miles distant) are within reach.
  • Connecting with the Community

Being at Thacher means being part of the Ojai community. By volunteering at local senior living homes, tutoring students after school at the public library, or lending a hand as a ball girl or boy at the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament, students find ways to make connections beyond the bounds of campus.
  • Traveling Ojai

Come see for yourself what the Thacher life is all about. We’re about two hours from Los Angeles International Airport, an hour and a half from Burbank International, and an hour from the Santa Barbara Airport. By car, you’ll approach Ojai from either Interstate Highway 5 or U.S. 101. On this page, you can find directions to Thacher using Google Maps and check out additional helpful links for visitors.

The weather is fine; the wind smells of orange blossoms.
