COVID-19 - THE 2020-21 COLLEGE SEARCH AND APPLICATION PROCESS

During these highly uncertain times, post-secondary education has undergone significant changes that are directly impacting our students’ college search and application process.  However, with many years of experience and wonderful relationships with colleagues on both sides of the admission desk, the College Counseling staff has kept students and their families informed and supported.

Starting in March with the national shut down of colleges and universities across the country, our counselors continued to work closely with our seniors as they made their final college choices while also engaging with juniors via Zoom as they initiated their own search.  College Class for juniors continued without a hitch and as students embarked on their summer vacation they had a working list in hand, tools to help them work on college essays, and a plan of action for the coming months.

While the majority of colleges and universities have moved to testing optional policies and standardized testing has been plagued by cancelations through the summer, the College Office continues to work with the College Board and ACT to provide on campus testing opportunities in the fall.  Additionally, we look forward to welcoming our college admissions colleagues to connect with our students virtually (with live Q&A) as we dive into their college application process.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to be in touch with our office at collegeoffice@thacher.org
