  • Most memorable Thacher camping trip

    Its a toss-up between two pack trips, one to the Sespe, the other to the Sierra, during which we lost some or all of our horses...As my colleague René Duykaerts kindly said when I returned from the Sierra excursion minus two equines: You havent truly horse packed until youve lost some horses in the backcountry. I will be forever grateful to René for that, and for the fact that we recovered the renegade horses two weeks later when they wandered into a cow camp at around 10,000 ft.!
