I realized it was a place that would push and challenge me in the same way it does students. I knew I needed some encouragement to break out of my own comfort zones and take some risks. This has been the perfect place to do that!
Favorite place at Thacher
The Pergola—I love that it’s both a hub of activity and a spot to sit peacefully outdoors, depending on the time of day!
Favorite job perk
Seeing friends and family as I travel around the country to meet potential Toads.
Favorite Thacher teaching moment
Since I’m not in the classroom, my favorite advising moments are the times after an advisee dinner has finished up at my house when the girls linger and sprawl out in my living room. Inevitably, someone ends up in a yoga pose, someone’s perusing my bookshelf, and someone’s laughing so hard she can’t speak. I never want them to leave!
Most memorable Thacher camping trip
Being stuck in a blizzard in the Sierra, sitting around a campfire learning to knit and playing games with students.
Hardly anyone knows that I
Was a White House intern assigned to the First Lady’s office (I’ll let you guess the administration!).
Favorite place on earth
Mayflower Beach in Dennis, Massachusetts.
The book, movie, work of art, or piece of music I cannot imagine life without
One Hundred Years of Solitude by García Márquez.
What I wanted to be when I grew up (when I was 10)
