College Matriculation

There’s no one kind of school that Thacher students prefer.

Every student’s educational journey prior to Thacher, their experience here in the Ojai Valley, and hopes for future growth will inevitably influence their college choices. On average, a Thacher senior will apply to 8-12 schools. This is a healthy number that allows students to present well-crafted and compelling applications.

While some may think, “the more choices the better,” studies show that satisfaction is strongest when you have a few choices you know very well, rather than many which you know superficially. In each of the last five years, our seniors have submitted applications to about 150 colleges and universities annually. The College Counseling staff encourages students to be open to the wide range of educational opportunities available and we take pride in the fact that Thacher’s matriculation list is different every year, reflecting the unique mix of personalities, interests, and goals of each senior class.
