Fisher Fellows

We’re looking for talented, early-career teachers to develop their craft at one of the nation’s leading independent boarding schools.

Through careful mentoring, extensive professional development, and deep immersion in the life of the school, Fisher Fellows will develop the foundational skills critical to the craft of excellent teaching. During this two-year appointment, Fellows gain hands-on experience in the classroom coupled with the personal, expert mentorship that is critical to the growth of beginning teachers.

A stimulating environment

Thacher students are highly motivated and value the opportunity to build close relationships with their teachers inside the classroom and out. Small class sizes allow for lively discussions and strong relationships between students and teachers.

Nurture and challenge

Fisher Fellows will work closely with experienced mentors and colleagues with increasing levels of autonomy and responsibility during the course of the two-year appointment.

Growth and support

The School provides generous professional development resources. From one-day workshops on campus to intensive summer programs, Fellows will have numerous opportunities to reflect on and refine their craft.

The importance of place

Surrounded by natural forest, Thacher recognizes that some of the most important teaching and learning doesn’t occur in classrooms. As a Fellow, you’ll participate actively in the School’s robust extracurricular, outdoor, and residential programs.

A community built on values

Thacher’s deliberately small size, residential character, and core values of honor, fairness, kindness, and truth make the School a place where every community member is known, heard, respected, and embraced.

The Fisher Fellows Program was established in 2017 in partnership with Remy Fisher CdeP 2010.

Applications

We hope to attract exceptional candidates who are committed to a career in education, regardless of previous experience or academic fields of interest. The program also seeks candidates who might otherwise not have considered a career in residential or independent schools.
