    A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Ali Rahman rejoined Thacher after spending two years teaching in the writing program at The University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Rahman was a Fisher Fellow previously, where he taught English, History, and coached several sports, including tennis and basketball. He also holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College where he worked on a novel about the second generation Muslim American experience. He graduated with a B.A. from Drexel University in 2011 and has taught in a variety of contexts since that time, including a large research university, independent K-12 schools, community centers, a prison in New York, and a university in the Middle East. He loves to learn, teach, and talk about literature, history, art, culture, and technology’s impact on society.

    Upon graduation from Skidmore College and prior to coming to Thacher, Elizabeth was a working artist exhibiting her paintings in galleries in Southern California. She also worked as a freelance photographer and designer, further enhancing her artistic background. She has brought these skills and her passion for the arts to Thacher as a teacher of Studio Art and photography.

    Elizabeth is also Director of English Riding Program at Thacher with a excellent background. She has over 40 years of riding experience and was a member of Skidmore's National Collegiate IHSA championship team. After completing her collegiate riding career she worked for top show jumpers on the A circuit and also ran her own English riding barn, training and riding horses.

    Elizabeth lives on campus with her three sons and advises juniors.

    Originally from southern New Jersey, Ami moved to Arizona to attend Prescott College and has lived in several western states and internationally since. Ami has pursued career paths in both field science and experiential education. She has worked in various roles at academic institutions over the course of the last decade, including as the director of The Island School’s expeditionary and gap year programs and the Northwest Outward Bound School’s Oregon program. Additionally, Ami is a published marine biologist, has taught a myriad of science classes, and was the learning specialist at The Midland School for a few years. Ami is most comfortable outdoors and appreciates working with students to develop their sense of place and appreciation for the local environment. Ami enjoys spending her free time paddling whitewater rivers, hiking desert washes and canyons, and spending time in the ocean. She lives on campus with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.

    Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Luke graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a BA in biology and from Drexel University with a MHS in physician assistant studies. While in training, he discovered a deep passion for wilderness medicine and is a lifetime member of the Wilderness Medical Society. He fuses this skills in his position at Thacher. Prior to joining the Thacher staff, Luke practiced medicine clinically as a physician assistant at a local emergency department. 
     
    Interestingly enough, his first encounter with Thacher occurred during a backpacking trip through Zion National Park, where he coincidentally camped next to a group of Thacher students who were out on one of their adventures. In his free time, Luke can likely be found drinking tea, surfing, backpacking, playing music, or nurturing his sourdough starter.

    Carly grew up in New England, graduating from The Governor's Academy and then Boston University with a BS in communications and sociology. She started her career in technology and new media public relations and in 1998 relocated to California, where she transitioned to the field of education. In 2011, Carly joined the Communications Department at Marlborough School, a middle and high school for girls in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles. From 2011-2021 she oversaw the development of a new visual identity, strategic plan, and fundraising program for the school. In her spare time Carly enjoys biking, hiking, baking, live music, and spending time with her family.

    Skye Rohde is a Thacher grad (CdeP 1994) turned Peace Corps volunteer turned public radio journalist turned nurse. She was a freelance radio reporter/producer for nine years, working first at a station in upstate New York and then on every public radio show in Los Angeles while reporting her own feature stories on the side. After being licensed as a registered nurse and public health nurse, Skye spent over a decade doing labor and delivery and postpartum nursing in the Los Angeles area -- even delivering a few babies herself! -- before coming to the Thacher Health Center in 2022. She lives in Ojai with her husband and two young daughters.

    Yung manages the daily Admission Office operations as well as maintaining the admission database. She is the point of contact for prospective students and their families. She also helps them navigate through the admission process. Her favorite part of the job is meeting new people from around the world. Before joining Thacher, Yung taught Microsoft Office products with New Horizons Computer Learning Center. Prior to New Horizons, she worked with Unisys Corporation as a database administrator. Yung has two children, Michael and Jasmynn CdeP 2013. In her free time, she and her husband, Michael, enjoy running, hiking, listening to music, cooking, and spending time with family.

    Mr. Gary Roth is a math instructor, teaching multivariable calculus, Math IVH, and Math III. He joined Thacher after many years at The Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey. He lives on campus with his wife and two dogs.
