Assembling While Apart
The Thacher community has found a new way to hold Assembly. 
It’s all the little things combined that make the Thacher experience the Thacher experience. One of those is Assembly. There are announcements and skits and “ooos” every time a teacher asks to meet a student after Assembly. So, Ms. McMahon, assistant head of school for student life, said, “It was a natural decision to have Assembly each week when we moved online. Students, faculty, and staff share so much of who they are and what they are passionate about. The moments we share remind each of us why we are grateful to be part of the Thacher community.”
One important fixture of Assembly is a TOADTalk, in which the Teacher On Active Duty (TOAD) shares something of interest—a reflection, a story or song, a demonstration of some sort, or a simple poem. Ali Rahman served as TOAD for our first online Assembly. He is a Fisher Fellow, English and history teacher, advisor to Upper School boys, and coach of the girls’ JV tennis and boys' JV basketball teams. A snippet of his TOADTalk is featured in the video.
