What happens when a cinematic universe becomes too expansive for its own story to hold together? Since the release of Iron Man, Marvel Studios has transformed the Marvel Cinematic Universe into one of the most ambitious transmedia experiments in entertainment history. Under the strategic leadership of Kevin Feige, Marvel built a tightly interconnected narrative across films, television, comics, and digital platforms, rewarding loyal audiences and redefining how franchises function in the 21st century. But as the universe expanded, so did its complications. What began as a carefully structured story world evolved into a rapid, multi-platform content machine, making it harder to join and contributing to audience fatigue.
This presentation explores how Marvel’s transmedia strategy fueled its global rise, and how the same interconnected system may now be driving its creative and commercial decline.
