Track and Field continues to impress at Citrus Valley Relays
The track and field team competed on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Santa Paula High School's Citrus Valley Relays. The team set numerous season best marks, personal bests, and team records.
The team opens Condor League competition next Wednesday, April 2nd at the Cate School. Come out and support your Thacher Toads!

Several athletes were able to compete for the first time in this meet. Arianna Finger '15 and Simon Novich '14 returned from injury to post good early season times in their respective relay events.
Novich helped the 4 x 800 and Distance Medley Relay team break school records, while also helping the 4 x 1600 team create a new school record. The 4 x 800 and DMR team included Peter Callan '16, Kevin Griffee '15, and Lukas Cesena '15. The 4 x 1600 team included Griffee, Steven Jump '17, and Ryan Jackson '17. Both Steven Jump and Ryan Jackson were impressive in their first 1600 race of the year.
Not to be outdone by the distance squad, the sprint relays were also fleet-footed. The 4 x 100 set a Russell Cup qualifying time of 47.48, while the 4 x 200 squad broke a school record. The 4 x 400 team ran the fastest time for the past three years and qualified for the Russell Cup.
The boys continued to shine on the field! Alex Levers '15 set a new personal best in the triple jump (35-08) as did Aidan Waugh '14 and Quincy Hunter-Daniel '14 in the shot put.
On the girls' side, Katie Rauner '16 continued to shine in the shot put by winning the frosh/soph event with a personal best throw of 22-00.25 feet, and qualified for the Russell Cup. The 4 x 100 team and 4 x 400 team also set Russell Cup qualifying marks and shattered last week's performances. Exemplary in their season debut were junior Sarah Metz, sophomore Tyler James and freshman Isabelle Doubleday.
