...is the game we're in and we're proud to be in the pajama game!
In a day and age where seven and a half cents doesn’t mean a heck-of-a-lot, the Thacher Masquers took us back in time to a pajama factory where seven and a half cents marked the difference between love found and love lost.
The Pajama Game, this year's chosen musical, is a Tony Award-winning musical based on the novel 7 1/2 Cents, by Richard Bissell. The story follows both the white- and blue-collar workers of a pajama factory in the midst of conflict over a $.07 pay raise. Caught in the middle are Babe Williams, grievance committee head, and Sid Sorokin, new factory superintendent, whose new love struggles under the tension of opposing sides.
Countless hours of rehearsal led to two great nights of performance, in which both cast and crew should take great pride. Behind the success of this production are the long hours and hard work put in by Rob Jacobsen (director), Gregory Haggard (music director), Gallia Vickery (choreographer), and Cal Jensen CdeP 2006 (technical director). These dedicated faculty members started with casting way back at the end of the fall term and worked diligently all winter to bring together over fifty students in the making of this production.
