Why do high school students decide to drop out?

Each year more than 1.2 million students drop out of High School in the United States. While dropout numbers are sobering up and hitting all-time lows, students of color are still disproportionately affected. I focus on how poverty affects student achievement and what the possible action steps look like in an outdated education system. I hope to bring awareness to a complex issue that is rooted in the history of America.
