How Friends Work

Friendship is such a tremendous part of the human experience. Despite its importance to our happiness and mental well-being, friendship has been something that society expects individuals to figure out for themselves. As Aristotle saw friendships as an indispensable ingredient of a good life, this research will enlighten the audience on the biological and evolutionary foundations that friendship is built upon and inspire them with philosophical and psychological frameworks to help people build meaningful friendships. There is no single definite answer to what it means to be a “good” friend, but understanding the science behind friendship will certainly inspire people to sustain more meaningful ones, which is the sole purpose of this presentation.
