In a world dictated by consumerist values, it seems as though authenticity has almost become a commodity. People seek not what they believe, but what they believe others will believe. In this state of mind, the performative male is born. Most believe inauthentic values permeate through the identity of the performative; upon closer examination, however, nuances must be considered. With that in mind, one may begin to wonder: what does it actually mean to be authentic?
