This past weekend Thacher's student actors brought to life John Patrick's play The Savage Dilemma. As psychiatric patients in an institution called The Cloisters, the characters face two major dilemmas. First, The Cloisters is likely to close down due to lack of sufficient funds. And second, the patients and doctors are taken hostage by two juvenile delinquents. While at first glance these problems seem very different, they actually have the same solution: ransom the wealthy Mrs. Savage—a former patient who recently returned to The Cloisters.
The Thacher Masquers did an excellent job of capturing their quirky, loveable characters. Their comedic portrayal of events drew the audience in and held them captive right to the very end.
