Belonging, Redemption, and Home

Thacher Masquers present a musical that mirrors issues of the day.
The cast of The Spitfire Grill was as small as the town it’s set in. Seven Thacher Masquers brought the Spitfire diner in Gilead to life in the spring musical this past weekend. The summer-like evenings kept the audience—even those in shorts—warm in the Outdoor Theatre.  And, Kaycee ’23 as Percy warmed the audience with a wistful performance of Morning Light: “Mornin’ light, shine on me, shine, find an ember of heat in this cold heart of mine.”

Julian ’23, said he would do it again “in a heartbeat… As the assistant director, I was basically the audience for a lot of the rehearsals, and it was incredible to see how much the show progressed and improved over time.” But why did he choose this role after acting in several previous Masquers plays? “I love doing theater, and I am likely going to go into STEM in the future, so I try to do as much as I can now with the Thacher Theater Department.”

Congratulations to the cast, musicians, and crew of The Spitfire Grill for an excellent production!
