Why Should Thacher Implement a Hip-Hop Curriculum?

Hip-hop, apart from its influences on popular culture today, stands as a force that has provided a platform for underrepresented communities to express their experiences, struggles, and aspirations. It serves as a microphone for voices often ignored and silenced, offering a raw and unfiltered narrative of life, social injustice, and resilience. By observing the ways in which hip-hop has provided a voice to underrepresented groups, we can develop an understanding as to how it has roots in advocacy, and how it can be used to analyze situations of various communities. It is imperative that Thacher implement a hip-hop curriculum to encapsulate these notions.
