Thacher Senior Aces AP Spanish Exam
Thacher was recently notified by the College Board that one of our seniors, Hayden Howard ’16, earned a perfect score on the Advanced Placement (AP) Exam he took on Spanish Language and Culture in spring 2015.
According to the College Board, which administers the AP test program, of the 144,561 students who sat for the Spanish Language and Culture test worldwide, only 55 earned a perfect score and Hayden was one of them.
AP Exam results are reported on a 5-point scale, where a 5 is equivalent to a grade of A in the corresponding college course. Hayden received the top score of 5, an accomplishment in its own right and, more impressively, he earned a spot among the miniscule .038 percent of high school students worldwide who took the AP Spanish test and received zero point deductions.

Looking across all of the approximately 4.5 million AP Exams taken in every subject by 2.5 million U.S. public high school students in 2015, Hayden is one of only 322 students to earn every possible point on an AP Exam.
“Thacher is especially proud of Hayden’s scholarship, dedication, and passion for the Spanish language and culture,” announced Thacher’s Director of College Counseling as she shared the news at a recent Assembly. “We are fortunate that he has brought this love to our classrooms and community.”
