Senior Vespers

Mr. Schryver offers insight to the senior class.
For Thacher seniors, the end of their four-year stint at the School begins after the final Formal Dinner of the year. The community walks the wooded path up to the Outdoor Memorial Chapel, gathers for the ceremonial reading of the names—a time-honored tradition on the eve of Memorial Day in which Thacher remembers those who sacrificed their lives for our country—and settles into the rows of benches overlooking the picturesque Ojai Valley to hear selected readings from their peers and remarks from their chosen faculty member.

This year, the senior class asked departing Director of the Horse Program Cam Schryver to address their class. In his remarks Graduating Together, Mr. Schryver shared some of his thoughts on the School, the valley, and his impending departure.

The service also included personal readings by seniors Isabel Ouweleen, Jordan Perry and Shinn Taniya. Music by the String Ensemble and the Chamber Singers enriched the event and proceedings concluded with the traditional singing of The Banquet Song.
